Gwyn Brookes
Gwyn is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner (GCFP) and Strength coach. She teaches individual lessons, or Functional Integration© lessons; and group classes, or Awareness Through Movement© classes.
Strength
Gwyn specializes in working with older adults, helping them retain function in their daily lives. Gwyn discovered barbell training in 2008 to support her martial arts practice. She has competed in several strength lifting meets. Gwyn is delighted to help others regain strength and function through barbell training.
Self-Defense
Gwyn has been teaching self-defense classes since 2004 with the Girl Army collective. Girl Army teaches women's self-defense to women and trans people. She also teaches group workshops which can range from a one day to a six week workshop. Gwyn is also available to teach individual self-defense lessons.

Martial Arts
Gwyn received her Sandan (third degree black belt) in the art of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu in 2013, Aikido in 2012, and received her Nidan in the Japanese sword art Toyama Ryu Battodo in 2010 from her teacher, Professor Michael Esmailzadeh, at Suigetsukan Dojo in Oakland.
Dance
Gwyn has an extensive background in ballet and modern dance. Prior to studying martial arts, she performed with modern dance companies in New York, Seattle and the Bay Area for over a decade. Her love of dance infuses her Feldenkrais practice with humor and imagination.
